Choose geometry for the question

Use a line for a straight distance, a polyline for a traced path and a closed shape for an area. Use the angle tool when the relationship between directions is the result you need.

Check units before drawing

Physical lengths and areas depend on the image calibration. Confirm the scale for the active image before collecting measurements that will be compared or reported.

Review a measurement set

  1. Inspect endpoints and boundaries at a useful zoom level.
  2. Confirm labels and values in the result list.
  3. Remove or correct accidental annotations.
  4. Check the sample size and spread before exporting a summary.

Select an appropriate output

Choose a table when you need numerical values and a report or annotated image when readers need spatial context. Available formats and limits depend on your plan; keep the original image with the result.
